Lapikas in brief
Lapikas is a student organisation at the University of Lapland for students who will become classroom teachers. Lapikas was founded in 1975 and is the oldest union in the University of Lapland.
Lapikas today, has more than 400 members and the number is increasing all the time. Lapikas is a member of the Teacher Student Union of Finland (SOOL), which is a national umbrella organisation for all the teacher students in Finland. SOOL is a special student union of the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ).
Lapikas offers its members the honour to wear our blue uniform, the chance to participate in social activities, free sportevents and our quarterly magazin; Lerpake. Lapikas members are known as a happy and cheerful group around the country. The members are active and they have a genuine northern attitude. Lapikas has a strong position at the University of Lapland as an organiser of a variety of diverse campaigns, leisure activities and soirées.
Lapikas may not be the biggest and richest, but surely the most visible and audible union!
